African Biking Adventures

Option A with less challenging gravel road

Day 1 – Arrive at Cape Town International airport. You will be welcomed by our guide and transferred in a luxury vehicle to the spectacular wine lands in the Stellenbosch region that is renowned worldwide for its award winning wines.  Test drive your rented BMW GS motorbike while our guide gives you an overview of the routes to be followed during the trip.  Enjoy scrumptious traditional South African cuisine for lunch followed by a wine tasting in the nearby Franschoek.  Dinner and overnight in the vineyards on a 5 star wine-farm.

Day 2 – Depart early morning along the coast line of South Africa on tar road heading towards the Garden route. Enjoy lunch in an old style fisherman’s village along the way. Ample opportunities to photograph the scenic coastline.  Visit the Bartolomeu Diaz museum in Mosselbay where the first European explorer set foot on African soil on 3 February 1488.  An option for shark cage diving can be included or simply proceed to the overnight stop to enjoy some of South Africa’s warmest hospitality.

Day 3 – Depart for the Knysna forest to explore South Africa’s indigenous forest along the gravel road that takes you on the most scenic routes. Return to Knysna to visit the famous Heads and enjoy a mout-watering lunch at the Heads. Visit one of South Africa’s best kept secrets, Noetzie beach to view the castles dating back to the 18th century. Overnight in  Knysna.

Day 4 – Depart on another adrenalin packed day that could include a bungee jump from the worlds highest bungee bridge, the Stormsriver bridge. Discover the garden route and the Tsitsikamma forest before returning to Knysna to overnight.

Day 5 – Depart early morning on gravel to Uniondale, crossing over a mountain pass leaving the coastline behind to discover the Karoo with its endless dessert scenary.  Spend a night in the mountains surrounded by bushmen engravings.

Day 6 – Cruise along Route 62 through the Karoo visiting an ostrich farm and the world famous Ronnie’s sex shop and overnight along the route in the small Karoo town of Calitzdorp.

Day 7 – Visit a private game reserve in the Western Cape where you will leave your motorbike at the gate before being taken on a game drive to experience some of the best wild-life Africa has to offer. Track lions and elephant before enjoying sundowners around a fire at the luxury tented camp in the bush.

Day 8 – Visit more of South Africa’s small rural towns and enjoy mouth-watering South African cuisine while being introduced to Africa’s culture and hospitality. 

Day 9 – Take the road back to Cape Town and stop at another wine-farm to place your orders for shipment of some of the best wines in the world.  Overnight in Cape Town to prepare for your return flight the next day.

Day 10 – Could either include a trip up Table Mountain or a trip to Robben Island before you are transferred to Cape Town International airport for your flight back home.
